San Jose Sharks star forward Macklin Celebrini has been announced as the cover athlete for EA Sports’ NHL 27. He is the youngest athlete to be on the cover of the game in the series’ history.

The 20-year-old ranked fourth in scoring last season with 115 total points (45 goals, 70 assists). He also finished fourth in Hart Memorial Trophy voting for MVP. The game will be released on Sept. 4.

Young stars have taken over the covers in recent years. Brady and Matthew Tkachuk, along with their father Keith were on the cover last year. Brothers Quinn, Jack, and Luke Hughes were all on the cover two years ago. Stud defenseman Cale Makar was the cover athlete for NHL 24. It was also the last time the cover featured one player.
