Brazil and Morocco advance as Scotland sits on the brink

Group C finished their final group stage matches on Wednesday with Brazil taking on Scotland and Morocco facing off against Haiti.

With Brazil and Morocco being tied on four points, these final matches would determine the group winner.

TOP NEWS

Brazil would down Scotland 3-0 with relative easy, in large part due to a Vinícius Júnior first half brace.

Morocco struggled to pull away from Haiti early on, with both sides entering the half even at two.

But a couple goals late would propel the Moroccans over Haiti in a 4-2 victory.

With a win in both of their matches, both sides would remain even at seven points apiece.

Unfortunately for Morocco however, due to Brazil’s 3-goal advantage in goal differential, they would finish a top the group.

As it stands Scotland will advance to the round of 32, but their ticket has not yet been punched.

And unfortunately for the Scots, their minus-3 goal differential still puts them in a lot of trouble.

For Scotland to advance they’ll need a few things to go their way.

Firstly, Cape Verde or Belgium must lose.

A win or draw from both nations sees them both jump Scotland, knocking them out of the top eight.

If either Belgium or Cape Verde manage a point, Scotland will need the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador and Senegal to fail to win.

If neither Cape Verde nor Belgium manages a point, Scotland need just two of the three previous mentioned nations to fail to win to advance.
