Veteran guard Marcus Smart is set to decline his $5.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers and become a free agent, according to Shams Charania.

Smart originally signed with the Lakers last July after negotiating a buyout with the Washington Wizards. He appeared in 62 games with the franchise averaging 9.2 points. 2.8 rebounds and three assists.

Smart originally entered the NBA back in 2014 where he was a first round pick by the Boston Celtics where he would play the first nine years of his career. He would then be traded to the Memphis Grizzlies where he played two seasons before being dealt to the Wizards.

He will now enter his 12th season in the NBA in search of his new basketball home.
