It came as a shock to everyone when the New York Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau. The latest news has suggested the firing came from owner James Dolan.

According to journalist Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports, Dolan and a few players were the reason Thibodeau was fired.

“What was clear was Thibodeau’s firing being spearheaded by Knicks owner Dolan. [Dolan] and team president Leon Rose held exit meetings with key Knicks players and the complaints were clear,” Goodwill said.

“Dolan, who sources said was never a huge Thibodeau fan through the years, asked the questions in the meeting while Rose took a secondary role.

“A couple of players felt like Thibodeau played the starters too many minutes and felt he had an inability to adjust, sources said.

“Another player said he didn’t feel like he could play for Thibodeau if the coach returned next season.”

Dolan demonstrated his support for players by removing a coach with whom several had issues. As of now, New York has not selected a new coach.

It’s been reported that Mavericks coach Jason Kidd and Rockets coach Ime Udoka are the ones the Knicks are interested in. Hopefully, this will not negatively impact the Knicks if they eventually hire a coach who makes the team worse.
