The Memphis Grizzlies have fired head coach Taylor Jenkins, the team announced Tuesday.
“I’m genuinely appreciative of Taylor’s contributions to this team and this city over the past six seasons,” Memphis GM Zach Kleiman said in a statement. “This was a difficult decision, given the consistent and tangible development of our players and overall success under Taylor’s leadership. I wish Taylor the very best going forward.”

The move comes as a shock to many due to Memphis’ overall success this season. They currently have a 44-29 record and occupy the 5th seed in the Western Conference.

Last week, the Grizzlies were seen fighting amongst themselves on the bench during a game, with Desmond Bane shoving Santi Aldama in a heated argument.
Jenkins was in his sixth year has the Grizzlies head coach and with just a few weeks left until the playoffs, Memphis is now in need of a new head coach.
