Steph Curry on new contract extension: “It’s still about winning”

Steph Curry pounds his chest after knocking down a shot

Warriors star Stephen Curry recently signed a new one-year contract extension that keeps him in San Francisco through the 2026-27 season. The $62.6 million extension wasn’t the only way he expressed his confidence in the franchise. He spoke to The Athletic last week.

“It’s still about winning,” Curry said, “and taking the steps necessary to give ourselves a chance. The standard hasn’t changed. The expectation hasn’t changed.”

The two-time MVP elaborated on the importance of focusing on the team’s success

“I’ve always said I wanted to play for one team my whole career,” Curry said. “So it’s good to get (the extension) question out of the way and give complete focus to basketball and to the season.”

The 10-time All-Star has recently faced questions regarding the future of his career, but those questions are now answered.

After losing Klay Thompson earlier this offseason, all eyes are on Curry and the Warriors as they pursue their fifth championship since 2015.
