It was announced yesterday that the Charlotte Hornets would be signing LiAngelo Ball to a non-guaranteed contract, his second with the team. People have given their support to LiAngelo, including brother Lonzo, on Twitter.

Lonzo wrote, “All he need is a chance…” and followed that by adding a bucket emoji. The support given by Lonzo to LiAngelo is great to see, as Lonzo and younger brother LaMelo have both made the NBA.

LiAngelo has been trying to join his two brothers and hasn’t had much luck. He has played in the Lithuanian Basketball League, Junior Basketball Association, and most recently, in the NBA G League with the Greensboro Swarm.

LiAngelo teams up with brother LaMelo

LiAngelo’s first attempt with the Hornets led to him getting waived by the team. This time around, LiAngelo and his brothers hope he can earn a permanent role on the team.

LiAngelo has recently said this about his new teammate and brother, LaMelo, in an interview with the Charlotte Observer:

“It helps for sure,” LiAngelo said. “That’s the dude I grew up with. I see Melo every day, talk to him every day. So that’s still my brother at the end of the day even though he’s in the league. But yeah, it’s cool having him there, man. Feels like home for real. I don’t know how to describe it. It feels like home. When I’m in Charlotte, I’ll be kicking it with him, playing basketball, doing all that stuff. It’s always good having a brother in the NBA.”

I think I can speak for the entire Ball family and Hornets fans about the signing. We hope LiAngelo’s tenure in Charlotte turns out to be a long-term deal.
