Zion Williamson reportedly wanted to join New York Knicks

According to Kris Pursiainen of ClutchPoints, New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson recently parted ways with his agency because they could not secure him a deal with the New York Knicks.

“Even before the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery sealed Williamson’s fate as the Pelicans’ No. 1 overall pick, he had long made it clear to the agency that he wanted to play in New York. After beginning his career in New Orleans, Williamson expected more from his representation in regards to pursuing a trade to New York. This was one of the two driving factors that resulted in the split,” Pursiainen wrote.

The bombshell report reveals just how badly Williamson wanted to play for the Knicks, which means it may still be a possibility.

The two-time All-Star forward has struggled with injuries from the start of his career with New Orleans and he’s currently recovering from a strained hamstring that will put him out until at least late-December.

While Williamson hasn’t made any public comments on the matter, the recent report only spells more bad news for the Pelicans.
