Zion Williamson ‘not remotely close’ to returning from injury

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is “not remotely close” to returning from the hamstring injury that’s kept him out for the last seven games.

ESPN insider Shams Charania appeared on NBA Countdown Friday night to report on the situation.

“Sources tell me he’s received multiple treatments on that hamstring strain. That’s become a chronic issue for him over the last few years,” Charania said. “It’s typically a four-to-six week injury with the grade level from what I’m told, but the Pelicans are bracing that for him, it could go longer than that mark, which would be beyond mid-December.”

Williamson reportedly came into this season in the best shape of his life, but the injuries are lingering anyways. His young career has, so far, been defined by the injuries that have kept him from reaching the next level of success.

Since being drafted in 2019, Williamson has played in just 47% of the team’s games.

When healthy, Williamson is one of the most dominant players in the league and he is a nightmare for NBA defenses. He’s one of the most exciting players to watch, but it seems like it will be a while before he returns to action.
