The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors completed a 21-point comeback against the California Golden Bears to win the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl by a final score of 35-31. It was the largest comeback in Hawaii Bowl history.
Hawaii’s starting quarterback Micah Alejado had his helmet knocked off the previous play, which had him sidelined for a play. Backup Luke Weaver came in and delivered with a 22-yard touchdown to Nick Cenacle which was just his second touchdown catch all season.
The Rainbow Warriors are no strangers to the Hawai’i Bowl, with the team now having a 6-4 record all-time in the competition. It was also the team’s first bowl win since 2020 and its second time achieving 9+ wins in a season since 2011.
As for Cal, this is the team’s third consecutive season losing in a bowl game. The Golden Bears have not won a bowl game since 2019 and finish the season 7-6, the first time the team finished above .500 as a member of the ACC.
