No. 5 UCLA defeated the Minnesota Golden Gophers 34–20 on Saturday in Minneapolis to remain undefeated at 9–0 overall and 6–0 in Big Ten play.

Ty Dieffenbach threw two touchdown passes to Aidan Mizell in the fourth quarter — both covering 75 yards — after Minnesota tied the game at 17. Dieffenbach completed eight passes for 303 yards.

Wayne Knight rushed for 109 yards and scored his 15th touchdown of the season. Drake Lindsey passed for 205 yards and one touchdown for Minnesota, connecting with freshman tight end George Rohl to tie the score at 17.

Kicker Luke Drzewiecki missed two 56-yard field-goal attempts — wide right in the first quarter and again in the third. After the first miss, Dieffenbach gained 18 yards on a read-option run and delivered a 28-yard swing pass to Knight, sparking UCLA’s first touchdown drive. After the second miss, Knight rushed for 31 yards, and Noah Fox-Flores caught a 27-yard touchdown pass three plays later to put UCLA ahead 17–10.

UCLA hosts Illinois on Friday night. Minnesota plays at Penn State next Saturday night.
