Miami has an unbeaten start to the season. Notre Dame ranks No. 11 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings — seven spots below its Associated Press ranking.

Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney will not play due to a high ankle sprain sustained in practice. He leads the Hurricanes with 85 targets this season; no other Miami player has more than 35.

Notre Dame linebacker Drayk Bowen and cornerback DJ McKinney are out with ankle injuries. Defensive tackles Francis Brewu and Jason Onye are listed as questionable. All-America cornerback Leonard Moore is expected to play.

Miami’s defense ranks third nationally in yards allowed per carry, excluding sacks. The Hurricanes rank 120th in QBR allowed overall and 137th in QBR allowed over their past three games.

Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr has completed 59% of his passes with no interceptions and one sack in his first two games versus SP+ top-25 opponents. He averages 10.9 yards per completion.

The betting line opened at Notre Dame -4.5 and shifted to -7.5 after Toney’s injury was announced. SP+ projects Notre Dame to win by 3.7 points; FPI projects a 3.9-point Irish victory.
