Tyrese Haliburton

Tyrese Haliburton is here to stay

Tyrese Haliburton does a dribble crossover on defender Evan Fournier

Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton is coming off of a tremendous campaign. Haliburton finished last season with averages of 20.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists per game. The young star put on an offensive clinic that wasn’t just for highlight reel purposes, but one that made Indiana’s offense the most powerful in the league.

The Pacers finished last season ranked in the top five in points per game, field goal percentage, three-point percentage, and assists per game. In just a few seasons their offense has gone from lukewarm to scorching hot, largely due to the infectious energy and performance of Haliburton.

While their scoring heroics weren’t enough to win a championship last season, Haliburton is only 24 and will seemingly continue to improve his overall game.

His defensive abilities need some work, but his lanky frame is a good starting point to improve his on-ball defense, screen navigation and overall defensive presence. Indiana’s defense as a team is already below average so even minor improvements on this side of the ball would be beneficial.

Haliburton has already proven himself to be a creative playmaker and energetic locker room presence. If his game continues to develop, last season’s assist leader will be well on his way to a championship.
