Ole Miss Rebels QB Trinidad Chambliss now remains eligible to play in the 2026 season after a Mississippi Supreme Court judge denied the NCAA’s appeal of his preliminary injunction Friday evening, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The ruling comes after a months-long legal battle between Chambliss and the NCAA. The 23-year-old had a standout season at QB for the Rebels last season.

He petitioned the NCAA for another year of eligibility shortly after the season, arguing that he should receive a medical redshirt for the respiratory issues that forced him to miss the entire 2022 season at Ferris State.

The NCAA ultimately denied the request on two separate occasions, ruling that there was insufficient evidence to grant a medical redshirt for the missed season. Chambliss then sued the NCAA in response and was granted a preliminary injunction in February.

That injunction was appealed by the NCAA, but that appeal was denied on Friday.

Chambliss led the Rebels all the way to the College Football Playoff semifinal while recording 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns and just three interceptions on the season.

With another year of eligibility seemingly on the way, he is expected to be a name to watch for the Heisman Trophy next season.
