Trae Young, one of the most talented players in the league and a former first-round pick, has the Atlanta Hawks in a position to move into playoff field. Young, 26, is a four-time All-Star who is coming off an outstanding performance last week against Golden State in a 124-115 victory. He turned in a double-double with 25 points and 10 assists on nine-of-15 shooting from the field.
Young also finished with five rebounds and a steal.
The 6-foot-1, 164-pound point guard has the Hawks (34-36) at No. 7 in the Eastern Conference. If Atlanta wins out and gets help from Detroit or Milwaukee losing some games, the Hawks would move into a better seeding for the playoffs.
Young is averaging 24.1 points per game and is listed as a ‘game-time decision’ for Sunday versus the 76ers.
He’s been dealing with an Achilles injury, but Atlanta is hopeful to have “Ice Trae” against Philadelphia.
