Tom Brady says he explored potential NFL comeback

NFL legend Tom Brady said on Thursday that he explored a potential return to the field, but that the league was opposed to the idea.

Brady won seven Super Bowls as an NFL quarterback, but hasn’t played since 2022. He’s now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, which is what Brady says caused the league to hesitate.

“I actually have inquired, and they don’t like that idea very much,” Brady told CNBC. “So I’m going to leave it at that. We explored a lot of different things, and I’m very happily retired. Let me just say that, too.”

According to league rules, Brady would have to give up his ownership stake in the Raiders in order to return to the NFL as a player.

Brady recently played in the Fanatics Flag Fooball Classic, showing off an arm that is still very impressive. Although his team took a loss to Team USA, Brady demonstrated that he can still sling the pigskin.

At the age of 48, Brady’s comeback would be nearly unprecedented. The only modern example to look to is last season’s comeback by 44-year-old Philip Rivers.

Rivers started several games for the injury-ridden Indianapolis Colts last season after returning from a four-year hiatus.

Brady insists that he’s now happily retired, but if we’ve learned anything, it’s that he hasn’t lost an ounce of passion for football.
