The Tennessee Titans issued a statement following former running back Chris Johnson announcing his ALS diagnosis on Monday.
“Some people leave a mark on an organization that you just can’t put into words,” controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said. “Chris Johnson is one of those people for us. His leadership on the field, in addition to his impact in the locker room and Nashville community have written him permanently into the story of this franchise.

“We are holding him and his family close, and join our fans around the world in expressing our love for Chris.”

Johnson, 39, revealed his diagnosis on Good Morning America. After several rounds of tests, Johnson’s doctors confirmed the unfortunate news recommending he “get his affairs in order” as the disease progresses.
However, despite the news Johnson is continuing to take the diagnosis head on.
“Honestly, I don’t know if you ever fully process it,” Johnson said on GMA. “At first you’re in shock, then you realize you have two choices: you can give up, or you can fight. I chose to fight.”
Johnson played 10 seasons in the NFL, six with the Titans, one with the New York Jets and his final three with the Arizona Cardinals. He garnered the nickname “CJ2K” following his breakout second season in the league where he rushed for 2006 yards and 14 touchdowns.
