South Carolina State Bulldogs defeated South Carolina Upstate Spartans 78–70 on Friday in Spartanburg, S.C.

Noah Treadwell scored 18 points for the Bulldogs. He shot 6 for 15 from the field and 6 for 13 from three-point range. Mitchel Taylor added 12 points and five assists. Brian Harris contributed 12 points and went 3 for 5 from beyond the arc.

Alessandro Perotti led Upstate with 18 points and nine rebounds. Derek Edmond recorded 14 points and six rebounds. Ries Naugle finished with 13 points.

The win improved South Carolina State to 2–0. South Carolina Upstate fell to 0–2. According to The Associated Press, both teams play road games Monday: South Carolina State visits Chicago State and South Carolina Upstate plays at Coastal Carolina.
