UAB Blazers defeated Nicholls Colonels 70–63 on Friday in men’s college basketball.

Deuce Jones scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Justyn Fernandez added 14 points and six rebounds. T.J. Caldwell contributed 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range.

UAB seized the lead for good with 16 minutes, 46 seconds left in the first half. The Blazers led 36–30 at halftime, with Fernandez scoring 10 of his points before intermission. UAB outscored Nicholls by one point in the second half, and Jones tallied 12 of his 14 points after halftime.

UAB hosts Florida A&M on Monday. Nicholls visits Tulane on Tuesday.
