The Philadelphia 76ers kept their season alive on Tuesday with an impressive 113-97 Game 5 victory over the Boston Celtics, trimming the series deficit to 3-2.

Much like many of the other playoff games in recent days, it took a while for both squads to truly get going on offense. The first quarter was a gritty, low-scoring affair. After 12 minutes, the Celtics led by two.

Both offenses finally came alive in the second, but a huge bench advantage for the Celtics was glaring. By halftime, Boston’s lead had grown to seven.

The second half saw the Sixers take full control of the matchup. Philadelphia knocked down seven of their 12 long-range attempts in the third quarter, putting up 35 points in the period.

Boston still led by one to start the final quarter, but the Sixers’ takeover continued for the rest of the night as the Celtics scored just 11 points in the final 12 minutes.

Joel Embiid led the way for the Sixers with 33 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

For Boston, Jayson Tatum had 24 points and 16 rebounds while Jaylen Brown finished with 22 points, five rebounds and five rebounds.

The series now heads back to Philadelphia as the Sixers look to force a Game 7.
