The Philadelphia 76ers promoted former NBA All-Star and Philadelphia native Jameer Nelson who will become the team’s new VP of basketball operations according to ESPN.

Nelson played 14 seasons in the NBA spending a majority of his career with the Orlando Magic who he helped reach the NBA Finals in 2009. He will be second in command next to team president Mike Gansey.

The Sixers have also opted to transition Elton Brand to a new role within the franchise. Brand had been previously serving as the team’s general manager.

During his playing career, Nelson has had stops with the Magic, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. He averaged 11.3 points, 5.1 assists and three rebounds for his career.
