Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will not play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals due to a quadriceps injury, head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Wednesday.
Darnold sustained the injury late in Monday’s loss to the Chicago Bears. Macdonald said Darnold is week-to-week and will not be placed on injured reserve.

Drew Lock will start Sunday’s game. Lock missed the previous two contests with an elbow injury. Jalen Milroe will serve as backup.
Lock started two games earlier this season for Darnold, who sat out after a glute injury suffered in Seattle’s Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. Lock won both starts.
Monday’s loss left the Seahawks at 4–4 this season.
According to ESPN’s official data feeds, Darnold is 29 years old and in his ninth NFL season. The New York Jets selected him third overall in the 2018 draft. Lock, also 29, is in his eighth season after being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2019. Milroe, 23, is in his second season after Seattle chose him in the third round of the 2025 draft.
