The Denver Nuggets lost a heartbreaker on Tuesday night to the Minnesota Timberwolves. After the game, Russell Westbrook was seen clashing with a Nuggets fan.

The reason for the clash is likely due to Westbrook’s missed layup and subsequent foul on Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s three-point attempt as time expired. This led to the Timberwolves winning 140-139 in double-overtime, spoiling Nikola Jokic‘s historic night.

Frustration was clearly evident among the Nuggets after the loss. Before Alexander-Walker attempted his final free throw, Aaron Gordon walked off the court.

The blame was certainly directed toward Westbrook by most after the game, but not by everyone. Nuggets head coach Michael Malone stated:
“I know who Russell Westbrook is; he’s a guy that hates to lose… He’s a perfectionist and a competitor. Knowing Russ the way I do, he’s probably going to put a lot of this on himself. We, as a team—the Denver Nuggets—lost this game, not one player,” Malone said.
The loss will sting for a while, but the Nuggets are former champions. Jokic, a three-time MVP, and the team are resilient. Their main focus remains on making noise in the playoffs, and they’re still likely to succeed.
