“When I watch Tatum on and off the court, he’s humble, he works hard,” Pierce said. “I have a chance to watch him workout in LA every year, he loves the game. He has something to play for because he’s probably the most disrespected superstar in our league.”

Pierce might be on to something with his comments. For the past six seasons, Tatum has been a superstar in the league. He’s put up great numbers, including averaging 30.1 points per game during the 2022-23 season.

Still, despite his stellar play, Tatum’s highest finish in MVP voting was fourth, which occurred in the 2022-23 season. Even after winning his first NBA championship last year, people knocked him down for the fact he didn’t secure the Finals MVP award.

So far this season, Tatum is only ranked fourth in the MVP race, despite putting up averages of 26.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. Tatum also has his Boston Celtics sitting second in the East with a 57-20 record.

Tatum might be the most disrespected superstar in the NBA, but I don’t think he’ll mind if he can achieve the ultimate goal: winning a second straight NBA championship.
