When it comes to American sports, nothing tops the NFL. People love football and it sits at the top of the ratings for sports viewership.

Last year, according to an internet study, 43% of adults watched NFL football games. It was 29% of adults who watched MLB baseball games, and 24% watched NBA basketball games.

When asked if the NBA is the NFL’s competitor, Commissioner Roger Goodell gave a blunt and honest answer.

“We’re not competing with the NBA or MLB. Our competitors are Apple and Google,” Goodell said.

The NFL is run more like a business than a sports league. It has been very successful and there’s likely nothing the NBA can do to catch them.
