Canada becomes the first nation in the round of 16 and the first host nation to be eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.

Morocco used three second-half goals to advance to the quarterfinals.

Canada would find offense early on in the match, forcing early saves from Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou in the fifth and 10th minutes.

In the 22nd, Morocco’s Ismael Saibari would come off due to an injury, replacing him was Soufiane Rahimi.

Following a Moroccan foul late in the first half, both sides would exchange words as a scuffle broke out.

Neither side would manage to score, with just five shots through the first half, four of which belonged to Canada.

Coming out of halftime, Morocco would break the deadlock early in the second half.

A set piece would see Azzedine Ounahi drive a strike through traffic and right into the bottom corner to put Morocco ahead.

Canada would continue to test their luck in the second half, firing off six strikes, but only finding one on target.

In the 82nd, Morocco would all but ice the game with a second.

Brahim Díaz would take a run deep into the box before footing a pass to Ounahi.

Ounahi would strike it first time, right past goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and secure himself a brace.

And in the 90+8th minute, to send Morocco to the quarterfinals on a high note, Rahimi would send home their third.
