Memphis Grizzles star Ja Morant took a hard fall in their 131-114 win over the L.A. Lakers on Wednesday. After several days of waiting, the team provided an update on Saturday.
“Imaging revealed a posterior hip subluxation (without dislocation) along with multiple associated Grade 1 pelvic muscle strains,” the team report states. “Morant is considered week-to-week and updates will be provided as appropriate.”

The news can be considered both good and bad. On one hand the injury is frustrating for Morant, who has struggled with previous injuries. On the other hand, it seems that he has avoided the worst-case scenario and could have been hurt much worse.

Morant’s injury opens up more minutes for Scottie Pippen Jr., who recorded a triple-double on Friday and joined his father Scottie Pippen as the first father-son duo in NBA history to record one.
In eight games so far this season, Morant is averaging 20.6 points and 9.1 assists per game. He has already dealt with a few minor injuries this season, but the Grizzlies are dangerous when he manages to stay healthy.
