Charlotte Hornets

LiAngelo Ball should receive maximum playing time in preseason finale

The Charlotte Hornets are set to take on the Philadelphia 76ers in its preseason finale. LiAngelo Ball is looking for one final act to showcase his abilities on the biggest stage.

Tonight should be that night.

With multiples players out, and the Hornets winless, it’s time to throw caution to the wind and allow the young guys to have some fun.

That fun also includes the fans. The Hornets did themselves a disservice in not playing to its home crowd more. During the first home preseason game, the fans began chanting, “we want Gelo!” late in the third quarter.

With roster spots limited, and a dismal season looming, Steve Clifford, Mitch Kupchak, and Michael Jordan have a hard, yet simple decision to make.

Put LiAngelo in, and just let him play. No favoritism, just showmanship at the very least. Again, what is there to lose? There is much more to gain, and the risk in not, is losing the Hornets base who need every reason to wait until LaMelo Ball gets healthy.

We shall see which direction is taken and how it impacts the start of the season.
