Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving makes well-timed move on social media

Kyrie Irving waiting for play to start during the NBA finals

Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving recently made a subtle yet perfectly-timed change to his social media profile photo.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum recently predicted a Celtics-Mavericks finals rematch for 2025, and Irving almost immediately changed his Instagram profile picture to a photo of himself playing in the finals against the Celtics.

Irving’s history with Boston is far from typical. He played for the Celtics from 2017 to 2019, after which he declined a contract extension and moved to the Brooklyn Nets, where he would eventually face off against Boston in a heated playoff series in 2021, eliminating the Celtics in the process.

His history of unpleasant encounters with Celtics fans speaks for itself. He also seemingly stomped on the Celtics’ home floor logo after the 2021 series.

While drama surrounding Irving may not be exclusive to Boston, it definitely doesn’t seem to be completely over between Irving and the legendary franchise.
