Kyrie Irving facing $400K lawsuit filed by former therapist

A new lawsuit filed by celebrity therapist and social worker Natasha McCartney accuses Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving of failing to pay nearly $400,000 for her services after she facilitated a large-scale, five-day family retreat for the point guard.

According to the lawsuit, McCartney was told to prepare for around 60 attendees. That estimate was later changed to 115 but upon arrival, there were about 150 guests in attendance, an increase that McCartney was not made aware of prior.

It also states that McCartney went above and beyond when an unnamed guest passed away at the retreat unexpectedly, prompting on-site grief therapy sessions for all participants. She also reportedly acted as a liaison between the family and the North Dakota state police.

McCartney reportedly charged Irving around $400,000 for her services, which Irving allegedly claimed he would pay.

Since then, McCartney and her legal team claim that Irving has not only failed to make the payment, but also failed to make a personal attempt at settling the issue outside of court.

Details have not been released regarding the family member that passed away, nor how they are related to Irving, who now has around three weeks to file a response to the lawsuit.
