Former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has been hired as the new head coach for the Michigan Wolverines. Whittingham served as the head coach at Utah since 2005 yet stepped down on December 12th.
Whittingham brings stability to the Michigan football program. Michigan’s former head coach Sherrone Moore was fired on December 10th for an alleged affair with a football staff member. Jim Harbaugh, the head coach before Moore and now the current head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, has been effectively banned from coaching college football since 2038 due to a total of 14 year “show-cause order” for sign-stealing penalties.
Michigan finished last season 9-3, and is facing off against the Texas Longhorns in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on December 31st. Interim head coach Biff Poggi is set to coach the team in their bowl game.
