Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is one of the most gifted scorers we have ever seen. He was the driving factor behind the Golden State Warriors’ championship victories in 2017 and 2018. He was recently asked to build a perfect starting five using current players in the NBA.
“I’d probably go with Luka [Doncic] at the point,” Durant said. “Luka, me, LeBron [James], Embiid at my five because Embiid can shoot the three better than [Nikola Jokic]… Then you gotta go with someone like Klay [Thompson]. He’s 6’7″, shooting that thing like that.”

The inclusion of Klay Thompson in this lineup is certainly confusing. He’s no longer the player he once was both in terms of defensive ability and offensive consistency.
The other selections make complete sense, Luka Doncic and Joel Embiid are two of the most unstoppable forces in the league, and to pair them with the playmaking ability of LeBron James would spell disaster for the rest of the league.
