Georgia Tech has announced that they are firing men’s basketball head coach Damon Stoudamire after three seasons.

The move comes after the Yellow Jackets finished with a 2-16 record in ACC play and an 11-20 record overall. They finished the season on a 12-game losing streak.

Georgia Tech went 42-55 across three seasons under Stoudamire. Athletic director Ryan Alpert released a statement regarding the decision.

“On behalf of Georgia Tech, I want to thank Damon for his commitment to the Institute, our men’s basketball program and, most importantly, our student-athletes,” Alpert said. “He is highly respected and admired throughout the Georgia Tech community and has been a strong representative of the Institute. We wish him the very best.”

The Yellow Jackets will reportedly owe Stoudamire $2.6 million over the next two years unless he takes another coaching job elsewhere.

Georgia Tech finished this season at last place in conference play and failed to make the ACC Tournament.
