Texas A&M Aggies guard PJ Haggerty scored 22 points and forward Jalen Shelley recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Aggies defeated Alabama State Hornets 97-66 in their men’s college basketball season opener on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The Aggies led throughout and stretched a 23–20 edge with 7:30 remaining in the first half into a 44–29 halftime lead. Jordan Pope added 17 points, Mackenzie Mgbako finished with 12 and reserve Tyshawn Archie contributed 11 — giving Texas A&M five players in double figures.

Shelley posted the first double-double by a Texas A&M player in a season opener since 2018. Alabama State guard Paul McMillan IV scored 17 points, guard Mike James added 16 and forward Damarion Bonds pulled down 10 rebounds.
Texas A&M returns five players from last season’s roster and added 11 newcomers. The Aggies host North Kentucky on Friday. Alabama State hosts Georgia Gwinnett on Monday.
