NFL fans react to Christian Watson’s huge contract extension with Packers

The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver Christian Watson to a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension that included a $31 million signing bonus, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Just weeks after extending WR Jayden Reed, the Packers have officially locked in their top two receivers, but some fans were confused by the move.

Watson returned for 10 games last season after tearing his ACL in 2024, recording 35 catches for 611 yards and six touchdowns. While the 27-year-old has shown great potential, his injury concerns were enough to leave some fans perplexed.

Their confusion didn’t necessarily stem from Watson getting an extension, but rather the sheer amount of money that the Packers included in the deal.

Some fans view the contract as an indictment of the rising WR free agency market, while others see it as an old-fashioned overpay.

Regardless of how the fans feel about it, the Packers have clearly committed to Watson as a major piece of their WR room.
