The relationship between the Philadelphia Eagles and wide receiver A.J. Brown has been strained for the last year. On Sunday, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Brown’s time on the Eagles may be coming to an end.
The Eagles and Patriots are reportedly in talks on a deal, but the Eagles want to wait until June 1, when they will officially be allowed to split the $40 million cap hit over two seasons.
They would need to take on the full cap hit in one season if they traded Brown before June 1.
Schefter reports that other teams could potentially swoop in with a better offer than the Patriots, but all signs are pointing to Brown becoming a Patriot in the next six weeks.
Brown expressed his frustrations with the Eagles and their offense last season and his close relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts has reportedly fallen apart.
Its unclear what kind of package the Patriots would be sending out in exchange for Brown, but a deal appears imminent.
