Dusty May agrees to contract extension with Michigan Wolverines

During the Michigan Wolverines’ championship celebration on Saturday, athletic director Warde Manuel announced that head coach Dusty May has agreed to a contract extension.

“We have already reached an agreement,” Manuel said on stage. “He will be the leader of this basketball team for many years to come.”

While the financial details have not been revealed, Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press reports that the deal is for five years and will run through the 2030-31 season.

The extension comes after a phenomenal season that saw the Wolverines finish 37-3 and win the national championship. It was just his second season at the wheel following a 27-10 finish in his first campaign.

His arrival to Michigan instantly changed the identity of the program. In the season prior, Michigan went just 8-24 under Juwan Howard.

With star Guard Elliot Cadeau set to return as well, the Wolverines have a serious shot at going back-to-back after securing May’s longterm commitment.
