Como defeated RC Lens 9-1 on Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

The result marked only the second nine-goal performance in Champions League history and the third win by an eight-goal margin. Como achieved it despite playing without three starters. Anastasios Douvikas scored three goals — matching his tally from last season’s LaLiga campaign — and remains the competition’s top scorer. Nico Paz added one goal and has six goals and seven assists this season across all competitions.

Como’s wins over RB Leipzig, Manchester United and Lens place them among the teams well positioned to reach the knockout round. They sit in the top four of Serie A and have scored 37 goals in 14 matches across all competitions this season.

Cesc Fàbregas’ tactical structure and player development have drawn widespread praise. Douvikas joined Como from Celta Vigo after scoring three LaLiga goals last season. Lucas Da Cunha was with the club during its Serie B season. Midfielder Luis Milla joined from Getafe. Left-back Álex Valle is a former Barcelona player who did not break into Celtic’s lineup on loan.

Fàbregas’ side plays high-intensity, organized football that combines defensive discipline with attacking flair. Analysts credit him with transforming players beyond their perceived ceilings and building a cohesive unit. His work has intensified speculation about his future, with multiple European clubs expected to pursue him.

Como’s next Champions League match is against FC Barcelona on the final matchday of the league phase.
