Celtics stars come up big in close win over Timberwolves

Jaylen Brown celebrating after making a three-pointer

The Boston Celtics defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-105 in a back-and-forth battle of starpower. Neither team looked to their bench for substantial production. Instead, the stars in the starting lineup were the ones bolstering most of the offensive workload.

Although Minnesota held a three-point lead after the first quarter, Boston’s 31-point second quarter was strong enough to give the Celtics a three-point lead at the half.

The third quarter would be the Wolves’ toughest quarter yet as they were only able to score 21 points to Boston’s 29. The fourth quarter belonged largely to Minnesota, who outscored Boston by nine in the final quarter but came just short of victory.

Jaylen Brown was a key factor for Boston as he put up 29 points, including five three-pointers in the first four minutes of action. Jayson Tatum also had a strong all-around performance with 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

For Minnesota, Anthony Edwards had 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Julius Randle contributed 23 points and six rebounds.

The Celtics have now won 18 consecutive home games against Minnesota, dating all the way back to 2005. They are now 14-3 on the season and the Timberwolves drop to 8-8.
