Cavaliers move to 8-0, tying best start in franchise history

Darius Garland celebrating after making a clutch shot

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 116-114 on Friday, moving to 8-0 and tying the franchise record for the best start to a season. The Cavs took advantage of the Bucks’ lengthy list of players out with injury, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Darius Garland was on fire for Cleveland and finished with 39 points and eight assists while shooting 68% from the floor.

Cleveland hit the ground running and jumped out to a 19-point lead after the first half. Milwaukee responded with a strong third quarter and even took an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Garland’s late game heroics were the perfect answer for Damian Lillard‘s fourth quarter scoring as Cleveland sealed their second victory over the Bucks in three days.

“It’s means a lot to us,” Garland said after the game. “Getting a win in this league is really tough so getting eight in a row is really good for us.”

The Cavaliers will face off against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night, looking to extend their winning streak to nine and achieve the single greatest start to a season in franchise history.
