Can Trinidad Chambliss continue his magical playoff run?

Trinidad Chambliss has had quite the magical CFP run. In the first round of the playoffs against Tulane, Chambliss had 318 total yards and three total touchdowns in a 41-10 win. Then, in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia, Chambliss refused to quit. He torched the Bulldogs defense with 362 passing yards and two touchdowns in a thrilling 39-34 victory. Now, in the Fiesta Bowl, just one game shy of the national championship, he must find a way to take down the Miami Hurricanes.

Chambliss has had himself quite the season. He was the backup for the first two games of the season before taking over as the starter against Arkansas on September 13th, taking over for an injured Austin Simmons. Since then, Chambliss has guided the Rebels to an 11-1 victory and helped them secure the six seed in the team’s first ever CFP appearance.

Despite missing the first two games, Chambliss was still able to put up insane numbers. He has thrown for 3,660 yards, has 21 passing touchdowns (as well as eight more on the ground) and only three interceptions on the season. His ability to make something out of nothing was on full display against Georgia.

With the shocking departure of head coach Lane Kiffin following the closure of the regular season, defensive coordinator Pete Golding took over as the interim. Many were unsure of how Ole Miss would adjust with the loss, but so far it seems the team hasn’t missed a beat. The offense continues to put up numbers, mostly thanks to play of Chambliss.

However, standing in the way of Ole Miss’s trip to the national championship is a hungry and eager Miami team. Miami snuck in over Notre Dame as the number 10 team in the bracket and has proved why. The Hurricanes shut down Texas A&M and Marcel Reed in round one, with a 10-3 win thanks to a game-winning pick from Bryce Fitzgerald in the end zone as time expired.

The Hurricanes continued their streak against Ohio State, with explosive plays such as a 72-yard pick six from Keionte Scott and a game-sealing rushing touchdown from CharMar Brown. Chambliss will have to be careful of a Miami secondary who has recorded four interceptions in the CFP.

With just one day until the two teams face-off, it may just be a battle for who wants it more.
