Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams arrived for the Bears’ Oct. 22 Thursday night game against the New England Patriots in a navy suit and black crewneck shirt, a matcha drink in hand.

He went without a tie, wore wired earbuds and carried a structured brown leather bag. ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe included the outfit among the Thursday looks in his Week 7 roundup of the league’s best arrivals.

Williams then completed 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions, as Chicago won 30-24 at Soldier Field. It was his second straight 300-yard game. ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that he is the first Bears quarterback with consecutive 300-yard passing games since Mitchell Trubisky in 2018.

The NFL fined Williams $23,882 for wearing Caddix cleats in the game, a source confirmed to Cronin. That is twice the $11,941 fine he drew for wearing the same brand in Week 6.

The league treats the Caddix logo as unauthorized. Nike, Adidas and Under Armour are the only shoe companies with NFL partnerships, and players who wear another brand must cover its logo. Williams has appealed the Week 6 fine, according to a source, and Caddix has said it will pay if the appeal fails.

Williams told ESPN he chose the cleats to help prevent injuries and does not plan to cover the logo. The Bears (5-2) play at the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, Nov. 2, on ESPN.
