Breaking: Wizards trade Jordan Poole for CJ McCollum

The NBA season may be over but the trade season is heating up. The Washington Wizards have traded Jordan Poole to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for CJ McCollum.

 

Along with Poole, the Wizards have sent Saddiq Bey and the 40th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. The Pelicans, in addition to McCollum, are sending Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to Washington.

The trade teams pair up with the ultra-talented, yet often injured, Zion Williamson. Will this duo make a splash in the league next season?

According to most fans, no. In fact, they’re already joking about the new duo.

 

 

Of course, with all things that have been going on lately with Williamson, there’s a good chance he may be on a new team himself come the start of next season.

As for the Wizards, they get rid of Poole’s expensive contract and take on McCollum’s expiring contract. This will give the Wizards $100 million in projected cap space during the 2026 offseason.

This will give the Wizards the flexibility to go out and add a big star to their roster. Unless they use their newly acquired assets to trade for a star now, or a higher draft pick.
