Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson has been ruled out of the remainder of Thursday’s second-round matchup against Indiana due to injury, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Simpson has reportedly been nursing an elbow injury prior to the game and took multiple hard hits in the first half. After leaving the field and heading to the medical tent, backup QB Austin Mack was put in his place.

Simpson recorded 67 passing yards while completing 12 of his 16 attempts before being ruled out.
The loss of their starting QB is a brutal indicator of how Thursday’s Rose Bowl has gone for Alabama. After finally getting points on the board, the Crimson Tide is down 31-3 early in the fourth quarter.
