The Dallas Mavericks are taking no chances. After two Summer League games, the Mavs have decided to shut Cooper Flagg down for the remainder of the Summer League.

The reason the Mavs are shutting Flagg down is to preserve him. Dallas doesn’t want to take a chance at Flagg getting injured during one of these Summer League games.

Flagg’s impressive Summer League

Flagg may have only played in two games, but he showcased his talent. He scored 10 points on 5-21 shooting. Despite his somewhat poor performance, Flagg came up big in the clutch.

He had a huge block and an assist on the last two plays that helped give Dallas the 87-85 victory. In his second game, Flagg scored 31 points, but the Mavs lost 76-69.

“I think it’s a new environment, new setting,” Flagg said after the loss to San Antonio. “They want to see me be aggressive and do that type of stuff.

“I think I did that a lot better today, just getting to the line, getting fouled, and that helped me to get comfortable and get settled in early. Still missed a bunch of free throws. I know my mom probably wasn’t very happy with that.”

It’s a shame for fans not to be able to see Flagg anymore this summer. Still, the Mavs are right in not wanting to take a chance on Flagg getting injured.

Flagg is their future.
