Since being traded for Kyrie Irving back in 2017, Isaiah Thomas has campaigned for a return to the Boston Celtics.

Now, nearly 10 years later, Thomas is getting his wish as he will be rejoining the franchise as a pro and college scout according The Boston Herald. Thomas will remain out west in Seattle and serve as a regional scout to the franchise, as he is reunited with his former head coach Brad Stevens in the front office.

He is current at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago with the Celtics to assist in evaluating this year’s class.

After beginning his career in the NBA with stints with the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, Thomas made a name for himself in Boston after being traded to the team in the middle of the 2015 season.

During his three year stint, Thomas went from sixth man to superstar instantly becoming a fan favorite and execrating what was originally a long-term franchise rebuild. Thomas had the best season of his career in 2016-2017, when he averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists placing him fifth in the MVP voting.

Boston would also finish as the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

But that very summer would be when Thomas would be traded following hip surgery which would alter his career from then on out.

Following just 15 games with Cleveland, Thomas would play for seven different teams across his final six seasons in the NBA.

Throughout the remainder of his career, Thomas has remained a staple in Boston looking back on his time with admiration.

He will now have the opportunity to continue his legacy in a new capacity.
