Austin Reaves has risen to become the perfect third option behind LeBron James and Luka Doncic on the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game last season.

On top of fitting in well next to the Lakers’ two big stars, Reaves is loved by Lakers fans. He’s also mentioned that LA is where he’s always wanted to be, as he grew up a Kobe Bryant fan.

Earlier this month, Reaves spoke about being a Laker and how he loves the fans.

“I want to be in LA,” Reaves said. “If they want to trade me, then we’ll start something new somewhere else. But like I said, I want to be in LA. I want to be in LA. I want to play my whole career in LA. I love it there. I love the fans. Love the weather, love the golf.

“And obviously the Lakers is the best organization in basketball. I don’t pay attention to [the noise]. I keep my head down, work, and I feel like that’s one of the reasons I’m where I’m at.”

When Reaves turned down his max extension earlier today it had some Lakers fans scratching their heads. The extension Reaves turned down was $89.2 million over the next four seasons with the Lakers.

Reaves likely wants to stay in LA with the Lakers. He’s just trying to get a larger paycheck out of the franchise. You can’t blame him, especially after the Lakers’ historic $10 billion sale.
