Alijah Arenas, five-star high school recruit and son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, has reportedly been put into an induced coma after being involved in a serious car accident on Thursday, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Five-star prospect and USC commit Alijah Arenas was involved in a serious car crash early Thursday morning, hospitalized and placed into an induced coma, sources tell ESPN. Arenas, 18, is the son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas.

Reports from TMZ indicate that the 18-year old crashed his Tesla Cybertruck early Thursday morning. The same report claims that emergency responders arrived on the scene at around 4:55 a.m. after calls of a vehicle on fire, with Arenas already out of the vehicle when they arrived.
He was reportedly rushed to the hospital and placed into an induced coma.

Arenas is a five-star recruit that has already committed to playing at the University of Southern California next season. He was originally supposed to graduate in 2026 before reclassifying to graduate a year early.
He played in the McDonald’s All-American Game earlier this month.
His father Gilbert has yet to speak publicly on the incident and no further information on Arenas’ condition has been released.
