No. 3 Utah Utes defeated No. 13 BYU Cougars 28–20 on Saturday in the first top-10 matchup in the Holy War, extending the nation’s longest active winning streak to 14 games and improving head coach Morgan Scalley to 10–0 in his tenure.
Utah entered the game 9–0 — only the third time in program history. Scalley is one of six FBS head coaches in the past 40 years to begin their careers with 10 consecutive wins, according to The Associated Press.

The win followed a transition from former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham, who left for Michigan. Whittingham’s Wolverines fell to 5–4 after a 15–6 loss to Michigan State on Saturday.
Week 10 across college football produced seven ranked-vs.-ranked matchups but settled little. Notre Dame beat No. 1 Miami 31–24, positioning the Irish — with remaining games against Boston College, SMU and at Syracuse — as near locks for the 12-team College Football Playoff.
Alabama rebounded from back-to-back October losses to Georgia and Tennessee with a 31–13 win over No. 14 LSU, moving the Crimson Tide into contention for a first-round bye. Texas followed a two-game skid by beating No. 18 Missouri 34–20 and landed at No. 7 in the initial CFP rankings.
No. 2 Georgia crushed No. 10 Ole Miss 42–7. In the SEC, Alabama, Kentucky, Texas and Tennessee each have two conference losses; South Carolina, LSU, Missouri and Oklahoma each have three.
UCLA — ranked No. 8 — beat Minnesota 34–20. The Bruins control their path to the Big Ten title game: wins in two of their final three games — against Illinois, at Michigan and against USC — would secure a spot opposite Indiana.
