Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris scored two goals and defenseman Owen Power recorded three assists in a 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.
Sabres right wing Jack Quinn opened the scoring at 6:50 of the first period for his ninth goal this season. Blue Jackets center Kent Johnson tied the game with 4:00 left in the period, scoring his eighth. Norris broke a six-game goal drought by putting Buffalo ahead 2–1 with 1:50 remaining in the first — his first goal since October 17.

Defenseman Rasmus Dahlin extended the lead to 3–1 at 4:30 of the second period with a one-timer. Norris scored again at 9:46 to make it 4–1. Forward Josh Doan scored 1:07 later to push the advantage to 5–1. Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski converted a power-play opportunity with 1:39 left in the third period to cut the deficit to 5–2.
Buffalo goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 24 shots. Columbus goaltender Jet Greaves made 32 saves. The Blue Jackets have lost their last three games on the road.
Columbus forward Sean Monahan left the game during the second period after blocking a shot by Dahlin. He did not return and was ruled out with a lower-body injury.
The Sabres improved to 4–1 in their last five games. Buffalo hosts the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. Columbus hosts the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night.
